movement that speaks and text that moves

Highly Sprung Performance Co. is a Coventry based physical theatre company who strive to create new and innovative work that challenges the conventions of story telling: Delivering physical performance that fizzes with energy and explodes like a helium balloon upon your senses. Dramatic, emotional, provocative, Highly Sprung rushes in where others fear to tread. "Our performances look at huge issues or themes as if under an 'emotion' microscope, exploring the relationships, feelings and decisions of the characters involved, unravelling a story, extracting raw emotions and using them as stimulus for movement, text and interaction." Highly Sprung Performance Co. has a commitment to developing new audiences and making work more accessible. The company run an extensive community and education programme and often perform in unconventional spaces.

Thanks to a successful Heart of England grant work since September continued to be centred around the company's involvement with young people. The work culminated in December, with the presentation of two new projects.

Details of the projects:

Thursday Group:The Christmas Shopping Show
Original music and physical performance piece exploring the subject of Christmas shopping. The group performed seven times in various city centre locations including The Motor Museum and The Ricoh Arena. The performance was a great success and many people commented on how it captured the 'spirit of christmas.'

Saturday Group:
The group presented an exhibition of work at Coventry's Motor Museum. The event was afternoon of performance and activities suitable for all the family.

The event consisted of short performances by some of the Highly Sprung Workshops Saturday (4-13) and from the Performance Group (14-21), interactive workshops which were open to the community, free of charge, and a gallery of work by the children.

The event was very well attended with great performances from all the young people involved!
